WHAT WE DID

Northern KwaZulu-Natal is a biodiversity-rich landscape supporting globally significant conservation areas and community-managed land.

These grassland and savanna ecosystems play an important role in regional climate resilience and biodiversity conservation, while presenting strong opportunities to integrate regenerative land management with conservation and community livelihoods.

THE PROCESS

Through partnerships with conservation organisations and local communities, the KwaZuluNatal Sustainable Landscapes Program (KZNSLP) implements regenerative grazing and fire management practices designed to strengthen ecosystem resilience.

The program targets durable carbon removal through increased soil organic carbon, alongside improved habitat condition and reduced invasive species pressure, contributing to long-term landscape stewardship.
