The United Nations declared 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, a global initiative aimed at raising awareness of the profound ecological, cultural, and socio-economic importance of rangelands and the communities that steward them.

Sayari Earth’s Sustainable Landscapes Programs strongly align with the goals and objectives of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists.

Our approach recognises that healthy working landscapes are foundational to community and environmental resilience while also enhancing conservation, carbon storage and the water cycle.  We place local knowledge and co-creation at the centre of long-term rangeland stewardship while supporting landowners with technology tools to enhance land management.

Rangelands are vast, covering over 50% of the Earth’s land surface. These ecosystems are essential for climate resilience and human well-being and sustain globally important biodiversity.

Sayari Earth is proud to support the UN International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists which aims to:

  • Elevate global awareness by shining a spotlight on landscapes and people often overlooked in environmental narratives.
  • Mobilise action and investment by encouraging governments, donors, scientists, and the private sector to invest in sustainable rangeland management, ecosystem restoration, and livestock management value chains.
  • Strengthen policy by strengthening rights, markets, animal welfare, and adaptive governance.
  • Recognise rangelands as globally important carbon reservoirs and livestock management as a climate-smart livelihood that enhances ecosystem health and food system resilience.

Climate and nature finance must support rangeland-based climate solutions, including ARR, regenerative agriculture, and soil carbon enhancement, all geared toward high-integrity nature-based climate solutions. The International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists is not a moment in time. It is the start of a movement which validates decades of science, ground-level practice and strengthens the global case for resilient working ecosystems that enhance livelihoods, conservation, food security and land regeneration. Sayari Earth profoundly believes that scaling up investment in rangeland management and community land stewards is a critical pillar of a future where people and nature universally thrive together.
