Our mission is to partner with people to sustain life on planet Earth, combining climate science, land stewardship, and community collaboration to deliver verified carbon credits and tangible socio-ecological outcomes.

About the Role

We are seeking a Livestock Production Specialist to help implement and refine sustainable grazing systems as part of our regenerative land management and carbon sequestration programs. This role is central to the success of our rotational grazing and grassland restoration initiatives, working directly with farmers, landowners, and project teams to align livestock management with carbon, biodiversity, and productivity goals.

You’ll bring a blend of technical livestock expertise and community engagement experience, helping to improve rangeland health, animal welfare, and farmer livelihoods.

Key Responsibilities

Grazing Planning & Implementation

  • Develop and support the implementation of rotational grazing plans that align with ecological restoration and carbon project goals.
  • Work closely with landowners and herders to improve stocking rates, herd mobility, and pasture recovery cycles.
  • Monitor grazing impacts and recommend adaptive management strategies.

Farmer Engagement & Capacity Building

  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to farmers and herders on sustainable livestock practices.
  • Build trusted relationships with livestock owners and cooperatives to foster long-term collaboration.
  • Facilitate workshops, field days, and peer learning exchanges on grazing and rangeland health.

Animal Production & Health Support

  • Offer guidance on herd nutrition, health, breeding, and productivity within regenerative systems.
  • Support integration of indigenous knowledge and low-cost interventions into livestock management.
  • Focus on cattle, sheep, and Angora goat systems in extensive grazing environments.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Contribute to monitoring systems for animal productivity, pasture condition, and land use changes.
  • Work with project teams to align livestock data with carbon methodology requirements.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices for internal and external reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Degree or diploma in Animal Science, Livestock Production, Agricultural Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in livestock or pasture-based farming systems, preferably in rural or communal contexts.
  • Proven experience working directly with farmers, cooperatives, or extension services.
  • Understanding sustainable or regenerative grazing principles.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train and mobilize diverse stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly in the field.

Preferred:

  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with cattle, sheep, and Angora goats.
  • Practical experience with rangeland ecology, stocking rates, rotational grazing, and pasture health.
  • Experience working with smallholders or commercial farmers in rural settings.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful opportunity to shape sustainable livestock systems with real climate and community impact.
  • Collaborative, supportive team culture with room for innovation.
  • Field-based flexibility and autonomy in your role.
  • Competitive salary or consulting contract based on experience.
  • Opportunities for professional growth in carbon and regenerative agriculture.
