About the Role
Sayari Earth is seeking a reliable and hardworking Land Management Technician to support hands-on land management activities on partner farms in and around Beaufort West. This is a field-based, practical role suited to someone with general farm or construction experience who is comfortable working outdoors and contributing directly to on-the-ground implementation.
The role involves soil sampling, assisting with land management works, and supporting training and implementation activities alongside farmers and farm workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect soil samples according to project protocols and assist with basic field measurements.
- Support the physical implementation of land management activities on farms, including:
- Laying and repairing water pipes.
- Installing and maintaining fences.
- Assisting with erosion control and basic infrastructure works.
- Assist with setting up and supporting training activities for farm workers and land managers.
- Load, transport, and handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment on-site.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and comply with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Record basic field notes and report progress or issues to the Land Management Officer and / or Land Management Coordinator.
Skills and Experience
- Experience as a general worker, farm worker, or in basic construction, maintenance, or land management roles.
- Comfortable working outdoors in rural and semi-arid environments.
- Practical, hands-on skills and willingness to learn new tasks.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to engage respectfully with farm workers and supervisors.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence compulsory.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
- Willingness to travel to farms in and around Beaufort West.
- Experience working on farms or in rural areas is a strong advantage.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
