About Sayari Earth
Sayari Earth is a technology- and impact-driven nature-based carbon removals project developer working globally. Our mission is simple yet urgent: we partner with people to sustain life on Planet Earth. Through innovative science, community collaboration, and carbon finance, we support land stewards in restoring ecosystems, strengthening livelihoods, and improving landscape resilience.
About the Role
Sayari Earth is seeking a practical, hands-on Land Management Officer to support the development and implementation of land management activities across our projects in the Karoo and surrounding regions. Reporting to the Land Management Coordinator, this role will work closely with landowners, farm managers, contractors, and internal technical teams to help translate land management plans into action on the ground.
The role is suited to someone with farm or land management experience who understands infrastructure, logistics, and the realities of working in rural environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, roll-out, and implementation of land management plans across partner farms and project areas.
- Assist with planning and overseeing land management activities such as fencing, water infrastructure, erosion control, grazing management support, and related farm infrastructure.
- Conduct site visits to assess land condition, infrastructure needs, and implementation progress.
- Liaise with landowners, farm managers, contractors, and suppliers to coordinate works and resolve practical challenges.
- Support the monitoring, documentation, and reporting of land management interventions and outcomes.
- Assist with basic budgeting, procurement, and tracking of land management activities and materials.
- Ensure land management activities align with project objectives, environmental requirements, and best-practice standards.
- Provide feedback from the field to inform adaptive management and continuous improvement of land management plans.
Skills and Experience
- Land & Farm Management: Practical experience in farm management, land management, or agricultural operations, with an understanding of day-to-day farm realities.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with farm and rangeland infrastructure such as fencing, water systems, roads, boreholes, and erosion control structures.
- Implementation-Focused: Comfortable working hands-on in the field and coordinating implementation, not just planning.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully and effectively with landowners, farm staff, contractors, and colleagues.
- Organisation: Ability to plan tasks, manage multiple activities, and keep accurate records of work completed.
- Problem-Solving: Practical, solutions-oriented approach to challenges in remote and rural settings.
- Technical Skills: Basic competence in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel); experience using digital tools or field data collection apps is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Land Management, Environmental Management, or a related field advantageous, but not essential if strong practical experience is demonstrated.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
- Experience working in the Karoo or similar semi-arid landscapes is a strong advantage.
Why Join Us?
At Sayari Earth, you’ll be part of a committed, purpose-driven team working directly with landowners to improve land condition, resilience, and long-term sustainability.
This role offers:
- Meaningful, hands-on work with real impact on landscapes and livelihoods.
- Exposure to innovative land management approaches linked to carbon finance and restoration.
- Opportunities to grow within a fast-evolving organisation focused on integrity, collaboration, and long-term outcomes.
