As we scale our project portfolio across South Africa and internationally, we are seeking a driven and strategically minded Business Development Officer to support our growth.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Development Officer to join our team. The Business Development Officer will work closely with the CEO to expand Sayari Earth’s investment pipeline, carbon credit sales, and grant funding portfolio.
This role sits at the intersection of climate finance, investor engagement, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate is commercially astute, highly organized, confident in high-level engagements, and passionate about accelerating nature-based climate solutions.
You will play a central role in securing funding, strengthening investor relationships, and positioning Sayari Earth as a leader in high-integrity carbon markets.
Key Responsibilities
Investment & Capital Raising
- Identify and engage potential investors and funding partners.
- Support the CEO in structuring and presenting investment opportunities.
- Prepare financial summaries, concept notes, and investment briefs.
- Maintain and grow an active investor pipeline.
Sales and Marketing
- Support development and execution of carbon credit sales strategies.
- Prepare tailored proposals and pitch decks for buyers.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate buyers and strategic partners.
- Track market developments and identify new commercial opportunities.
Grant Funding
- Research and identify relevant grant opportunities to support project funding.
- Lead the preparation and submission of grant applications.
- Coordinate inputs across technical, finance, and project teams.
- Support reporting requirements linked to awarded grants.
Investor Relations & Communications
- Prepare high-quality PowerPoint presentations and investment materials.
- Support the CEO during investor meetings and fundraising engagements.
- Prepare meeting agendas, briefing notes, and follow-up documentation.
- Maintain professional and consistent communication with stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in business development, fundraising, investment recruitment, or related field.
- Strong presentation and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
Preferred
- Experience in climate finance, carbon markets, or sustainability sectors.
- Experience engaging with institutional investors or corporate buyers.
- Familiarity with grant funding mechanisms and blended finance.
- Experience working in a growing or entrepreneurial organization.
