About Sayari Earth

Sayari Earth is a mission-driven ecosystem engineering company partnering with people to sustain life on planet Earth. We develop high-integrity nature-based carbon removal projects that restore ecosystems, strengthen rural livelihoods, and contribute to global climate mitigation.

We are currently expanding our technical team to support our Spekboom restoration project under VM0047 and our growing Biochar initiatives, and are seeking a motivated and technically strong Associate Geospatial Officer.

About the Role

The Associate Geospatial Officer will play a critical role in supporting the design, implementation, and verification of nature-based carbon credit projects. This position sits at the intersection of GIS, remote sensing, ecological data analysis, and carbon methodology application.

You will support spatial analysis, MRV systems, biodiversity integration, and project documentation, working closely with science, land management, and project development teams.

This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about applying spatial science to real-world climate solutions.

Key Responsibilities

GIS & Remote Sensing

  • Support mapping of project boundaries, stratification units, and sampling frameworks.
  • Assist in drone and field data integration into GIS systems.

Carbon Methodology & MRV Support

  • Support implementation of carbon measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems.
  • Apply and interpret VCS methodologies (including VM0047 and related frameworks).
  • Assist in preparing documentation for validation and verification processes.
  • Support teams analyzing ecological and carbon datasets for credit issuance.

Project Development & Technical Writing

  • Contribute to research and drafting of Project Development Documents (PDDs).
  • Prepare technical annexes, maps, and supporting materials.
  • Assist in compiling monitoring reports and scientific documentation.
  • Support the development of new NbS methodologies and project approaches.

Biodiversity & Ecological Integration

  • Provide input into biodiversity monitoring frameworks.
  • Support spatial integration of ecological indicators into carbon projects.
  • Contribute to co-benefit assessment and reporting.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including science, land management, and impact teams.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports for carbon credit verification and certification.
  • Support preparation of materials for external stakeholders and registry submissions.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • BSc in Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Observation, Geography, or related field; BSc (Hons) advantageous.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with GIS and remote sensing tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working with carbon standards (e.g., Verra VCS).
  • Familiarity with nature-based solutions and land-use carbon projects.
  • Experience supporting MRV systems or ecological monitoring.
  • Experience working with large or complex ecological datasets.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary.
  • Opportunity to work on high-impact restoration projects (Spekboom VM0047 & Biochar initiatives).
  • Exposure to cutting-edge carbon methodologies.
  • Professional growth within a rapidly expanding climate impact organization.
  • A collaborative, mission-aligned team environment.

Why Join Sayari Earth?
